Each breed of sheep, llama or alpaca has unique characteristics to their fiber. Throughout our processing, we try to maintain as much of the natural texture and curl as possible.
When springtime comes, we lovingly shear each animal to prepare them for the summer heat. The wool is sorted and soaked in hot soapy water to remove dirt and lanolin. It is never agitated, instead we allow it to air dry. The wool is then picked, carded and made either into batting or roving. Now it is beautiful, fluffy and ready to work with.
In addition to processing the wool for all of our own products, we do offer wool processing to breeders and farms. We process sheep, llama, alpaca, angora rabbit, and mohair.
